Epilepsy

Major advances in the treatment of epilepsy and seizure disorders can significantly improve quality of life and the potential for life-long seizure freedom. A precise diagnosis is required in order to choose the best treatment, whether it’s a new anti-epileptic medication, diet, non-pharmacologic intervention, an implanted stimulator or surgery. Personalized medical care is a necessity for seizure treatment.

The Brain & Spine Institute provides comprehensive diagnostic and treatment services to individuals with uncontrolled seizures. Accredited by the National Association for Epilepsy Centers (NAEC) as a Level 4 epilepsy center, we offer complex forms of intensive neurodiagnostic monitoring as well as extensive medical, neuropsychological and psychosocial treatment. The experts in our program provide comprehensive evaluation and treatment of epilepsy and other seizure disorders using the most innovative techniques.

What it Means to Be a NAEC-Accredited Level 4 Epilepsy Center

An advanced epilepsy center should provide the more complex forms of intensive neurodiagnostics monitoring, as well as more comprehensive medical, neuropsychological, and psychosocial treatment. Fourth-level centers also offer a complete evaluation for epilepsy surgery, including intracranial electrodes, and provide a broad range of surgical procedures for epilepsy.

  • Thorough evaluations for the most difficult cases, including patients who need intracranial recordings with depth and subdural electrodes
  • Non-invasive video EEG neurodiagnostics monitoring attended by technologists and nurses around the clock
  • A broad range of procedural options, including implanted neurostimulators and complex resective surgeries
  • Extensive medical, neuro-psychological and psychosocial treatment
  • Access to emerging treatment options from involvement in clinical trials
